What to think about when developing your organisation's Web presence

I recently used a WordPress plugin called Shopp to set up a secure shopping cart for a nonprofit organisation that sells training materials. Although previous versions were buggy, it's improved a lot and I'd recommend it as a cheap online purchasing solution.
But think through all your needs in advance. After installation, the client thought of a couple of features they wanted that the product didn't support and it was too late to choose something else.
